Senior Mechanical Engineer – Gas Projects

Location: Warrington

Job description
  • Reporting to the Mechanical & Piping Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for mechanical and piping engineering and design within multi-discipline EPCM or EPC projects.
  • Projects will range from concept design to execution design.
  • You will have opportunities to work across sectors such as Oil & Gas, Energy, Utilities, Nuclear, Chemicals, and Food, handling both small and large projects.
  • You are responsible for ensuring quality in engineering designs and project deliverables, including checking and approval processes.
  • Ensure designs comply with CDM regulations, relevant standards, and specifications.
  • Complete mechanical and piping designs within scope, time, and budget, managing change control and maintaining consistency with other disciplines.
  • Participate in design reviews and ensure design acceptance by clients.
  • Make independent technical decisions and provide expert support within the mechanical engineering team.
Your profile

If you possess the following qualifications and experience, we look forward to your application:

  • A qualification in Mechanical Engineering, preferably at Degree level (BEng or MEng).
  • At least 5 years of experience as a Lead, Senior, or Principal Engineer in multidisciplinary engineering projects.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) with IMechE or equivalent (preferable).
  • Knowledge of general engineering standards and specifications (essential) and IGEM standards (preferred).
  • Understanding of mechanical engineering principles and their application in design.
  • Knowledge of other disciplines such as Civil, Structural, EC&I, and Process Engineering.
  • Experience with mechanical specifications, design basis, scopes of work, calculations, drawings, 3D models, schedules, risk assessments, and compliance assessments.
  • Experience applying piping design codes according to ASME and BS EN standards.
  • Knowledge of Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) and Pressure Equipment Safety Regulations (PESR).
  • Result-oriented with a focus on client satisfaction and quality delivery.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, understanding dependencies within and across disciplines.
  • Proficiency with main mechanical design software such as AutoCAD, Plant3D, E3D, Caesar II.
  • Understanding of change control procedures.
  • Ability to develop and present design packages and lead design review meetings.
  • Ability to meet UK security clearance requirements (preferable).
