Job summary

Dalkia UK is seeking a skilled Mechanical/Public Health design engineer to support front-end development, installation and lifecycle operations. You will investigate design issues, develop innovative solutions and work with installation teams to de-risk projects while enhancing competitiveness and margin.

Prospective candidates should have CEng/IEng status or a clear plan to achieve it, with strong knowledge of AutoCAD MEP and Revit MEP, plus experience with calculation tools like

Qualifications

• Essential: CEng or IEng status or willingness to achieve within timeframe.
• Essential: Membership of a professional body (CIBSE, IHEEM, IET etc).
• Essential: Varied experience across mechanical engineering disciplines with knowledge of standards.
• Essential: Experience in Condition Surveys, dilapidations surveys and building services problem solving.
• Essential: Knowledge of AutoCAD MEP/Autodesk Revit MEP
• Essential: Understanding of calculation software (Hevacomp/IES/Amtech)
• Essentials: Knowledge of relevant standards (CIBSE, SHTM/HTM, BSRIA).
• Desirable: Good communication and ability to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Design development of mechanical and public health engineering disciplines.
• Investigations to resolve design issues and improve competitiveness.
• Identify and de-risk design issues via design information reviews and site surveys.
• Designing, checking and approving designs for opportunities.
• Collaborate with BD and estimating teams on new opportunities.
• Apply value-engineering to maximise margin and edge.
• Support design-to-ops handover and guide operational colleagues.
• Attend pre-start meetings with Commercial and Operations teams.
