Senior Mechanical Building Services Engineer

About the Role

At Cavendish Nuclear we're working to create a safe and secure world, together, and if you join us, you can play your part as a Senior Mechanical Building Services Engineer at our Glasgow site.

As a Senior Mechanical Building Services Engineer, you'll lead the design and delivery of mechanical building services systems, such as HVAC, water, drainage, and fire protection–for nuclear facilities. You'll oversee technical documentation, guide CAD modelling, ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards, mentor junior engineers, and engage with stakeholders to deliver integrated and innovative solutions. This opportunity involves working as part of a JV team on the Nuclear Technical Support Provider (NTSP) framework.

Key Accountabilities
  • Lead the design of mechanical building services systems, ensuring alignment with nuclear safety cases, operational requirements, and environmental control needs.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate mechanical systems with electrical, structural, and safety engineering disciplines.
  • Ensure all engineering activities comply with relevant standards and codes (e.g. CIBSE, BS EN, ASHRAE) and nuclear–specific procedures.
  • Oversee the production and review of technical deliverables, including schematics, calculations, equipment schedules, and CAD/Revit models.
  • Support stakeholder engagement and project planning, resolving technical challenges and maintaining design integrity throughout the project lifecycle.
Essential Experience
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within multi–disciplinary teams to deliver engineering solutions across a variety of project types.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing a diverse range of engineering tasks, from straightforward to highly complex challenges.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively interface with colleagues across disciplines, clients, and stakeholders.
