Job Description

Senior Mechanical Building Services Engineer – Greater Bristol Area

Salary: £45k – £55k (Negotiable DOE) | Full-Time, Permanent | Start ASAP

Looking to take your next step as a Senior Mechanical Building Services Engineer in a collaborative, forward-thinking environment? I’m working with a fantastic, friendly team based just south of Bristol, and they’re looking for someone like you—an experienced, motivated engineer ready to hit the ground running.

This is a full-time, permanent opportunity to join a close-knit building services consultancy known for delivering a wide range of exciting projects across new builds and refurbishments in all types of buildings. The work is varied and rewarding, with a genuine commitment to sustainability, professional development, and flexible working.

What you’ll be doing:

You’ll be a key part of the engineering team, bringing your technical know-how and leadership to a range of UK-based building services projects. You should be confident working across RIBA stages and managing the full project life cycle—from initial surveys to site inspections and project completion.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Leading mechanical services design on a wide range of projects
  • Liaising directly with clients and external teams (architects, structural engineers, contractors, surveyors)
  • Preparing project documentation, reports and specifications
  • Overseeing installation, commissioning, and contractor supervision
  • Ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard
  • Supporting junior team members in their technical and professional development
  • Contributing to sustainable design solutions and compliance with legislation and H&S requirements

What we’re looking for:

  • Proven experience in mechanical building services engineering (senior level)
  • Strong track record delivering UK projects
  • Familiarity with RIBA work stages and associated duties
  • Confident communicator and team player
  • Able to manage multiple projects and workstreams effectively

What’s on offer:

Beyond the salary, this team genuinely values work-life balance, career growth, and team spirit. Here’s a glimpse at what makes them stand out:

  • Flexible working: Hybrid options, flexible hours (37.5/week), part-time considered
  • Generous annual leave: 25 days + bank holidays + Christmas gifted day (with increases over time)
  • Supportive culture: Accessible leadership, strong mentorship, open communication
  • Professional growth: Backing for academic and professional development, apprenticeships, and CPD
  • Sustainability commitment: Net zero operations by 2030, EV salary sacrifice scheme, in-office charging
  • Perks & benefits:
  • Discretionary Christmas bonus
  • Enhanced family leave
  • Workplace pension with Royal London
  • Overtime/time-in-lieu options
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Cycle to Work scheme & office bike
  • Company mobile (for senior staff)
  • Easy expense/mileage process via Xero
  • Newly refurbished office near riverside walks and seafront
  • Active, friendly office culture—think lunchtime jogs, shared ideas, and a team-first mindset

If you’re a senior mechanical engineer who thrives in a team that values innovation, trust, and quality—and wants your input to matter—this is a brilliant opportunity to be part of something genuinely rewarding.
