Job description

I am thrilled to be working with this leading contractor who is looking to strengthen their engineering team with a Senior Mechanical Engineer.

Due to the geography of the work, this role can be based out of Bristol or Exeter with hybrid working available.

What's it all about?

You will report directly to the Principal Engineer or Regional Discipline Lead. Your role will be to provide high-quality Engineering Design services to minimize risks and maximize profits on turnkey and engineering services contracts.

You will coordinate the design and produce design documents and drawings, taking into account health and safety requirements, specifications, and standards related to the contract.

Key Responsibilities

• Work according to procedures and processes to ensure the department's continuous development.
• Assist in developing, monitoring, and reviewing procedures and processes.
• Write, update, and oversee efficient procedures to ensure smooth departmental operations.
• Coordinate designs with all other disciplines, both internal and external to the business.
• Maintain files and records throughout the duration of contracts.
• Maintain a personal development plan.
• Assist in supervising and developing staff.
• Ensure a safe working environment for all staff.
• Minimize waste from all departmental activities and ensure designs consider environmental issues.

Ideally, you have the following:

• Significant experience in the technical delivery of process plant systems on complex water industry engineering projects.
• Understanding of water and sewage treatment principles.
• Membership of a professional institution, chartered or nearing chartership.
• Relevant discipline Engineering HND.
• Good general knowledge of all aspects of water treatment, including mechanical, process, electrical engineering, and project management.
