Job summary

Ford & Stanley Group is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer for the Barton-under-Needwood site with hybrid working options. You will apply your Rolling Stock bogies and wheelsets expertise to support safety-critical rail systems, investigations and engineering change.

You will work with customers and internal teams, producing technical reports and driving continuous improvement across bogies, wheelsets and mechanical systems.

Qualifications

• Rolling Stock industry experience, ideally with Bogies/Wheel sets.
• Degree-qualified Mechanical or Systems Engineer or equivalent Level 6.
• Experience in workshop environments / servicing & maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise across bogies, wheelsets and other rolling stock mechanical systems
• Support root cause investigations and failure analysis activities
• Produce and review engineering documentation, specifications and technical reports
• Support engineering change and continuous improvement projects
• Interface with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders
• Contribute to product safety, risk assessment and technical governance activities

Senior Mechanical Engineer (Bogies & Wheelsets) – Burton – Up to GBP65,000 (+) The Opportunity

We're supporting a leading rail engineering organisation in the search for a Senior Mechanical Engineer with Rolling Stock Bogies and Wheelsets experience to join its specialist Products & Components team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced mechanical engineer with rolling stock, bogie or wheelset experience to play a key role in the performance, reliability and safety of safety–critical rail systems. You'll be involved in technical investigations, engineering change, overhaul specifications, product improvement and customer–facing engineering support across a broad range of rail applications.

The Role

• Provide technical expertise across bogies, wheelsets and other rolling stock mechanical systems


• Support root cause investigations and failure analysis activities


• Produce and review engineering documentation, specifications and technical reports


• Support engineering change and continuous improvement projects


• Interface with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders


• Contribute to product safety, risk assessment and technical governance activities

Location

Barton–under–Needwood. Site based with opportunity for hybrid working once settled.

Essential Experience

• Degree–qualified Mechanical or Systems Engineer or equivalent Level 6.


• Rolling Stock industry experience, ideally with Bogies/Wheel sets


• Strong background in workshop environments / in Servicing &/or maintenance


• Ability to operate independently as a technical authority
