Job summary

A leading design and build business operating across the UK is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to work on impactful projects in the water sector. You will oversee mechanical installation techniques, manage subcontractors, and ensure quality assurance throughout various project phases. MMB has successfully extended its contract with Thames Water for an additional five years. As the largest water and wastewater provider in the UK, Thames Water serves 15 million customers throughout London and the Thames Valley. This extension will carry the current agreement through to the end of AMP8 in March 2030. MMB is delivering work on three frameworks in the region, which sees us undertake a varied programme of water and wastewater non-infrastructure and infrastructure projects to improve the network. With sites located across the Thames Valley region including; Aylesbury, Banbury, and Reading.

Engineering is at the very core of what we do. Be it civil, mechanical or electrical, our engineers are based on site and play a practical, hands-on role in the successful delivery of projects.

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer you'll work on projects that make a real difference to our environment and our communities - from improving flood defences, to upgrading water treatment works and providing nature-based solutions that improve biodiversity.

You will play a pivotal role in shaping the mechanical functions throughout the lifecycle of various projects. From concept design to commissioning, you will ensure that all mechanical aspects are meticulously considered and integrated.

The Role Of a Senior Mechanical Engineer Includes
  • A focus on mechanical installation techniques, materials and process plants, help plan & integrate the design, construction and commissioning of plant and equipment.
  • During the construction phase, duties will include; outage planning, overseeing subcontractors and overseeing mechanical and process safety.
  • You should have a focus on Quality Assurance via management of project inspection and test plans, acceptance documents, training materials, and completion documentation.
  • Supporting,developing and mentoring Apprentices and Graduate Mechanical engineers.
  • Putting mechanical plant into commission and management of performance testing.
  • Management of defects recording and resolution process.
  • Signing off construction projects to ‘As Constructed’ and completion documentation production.
  • Supporting the pre-construction elements of project delivery.
What You’ll Need
  • CSCS
  • HNC / Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Understand civil engineering principles and practices
  • Excellent organisation and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders
  • A valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites across your operational region
  • An experience working with pumps,pipework, valves, screens, scrapers, mixers, blowers would be beneficial.
  • Would suit persons with a previous background in a supervisory role in mechanical process installation or technical role in a process plant supplier
