Job Opportunity: Senior Mechanical Engineer

Our client, a multi-disciplinary property and construction company, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer due to growth across multiple sectors. This role can be based in Norwich, Nottingham, or Oxford. The client is also open to Mechanical Engineers at an intermediate level.

The role involves providing mechanical engineering support in the built environment, including design and project management responsibilities.

Senior Mechanical Engineer responsibilities:

  1. Ensure projects are completed to high technical standards, on time and within budget.
  2. Engage in fee-earning work, including scheme design where high-level expertise is required.
  3. Assist in forming sound engineering solutions and providing cost-effective options.
  4. Meet with clients to establish project briefs and budgets.
  5. Create detailed specifications and drawings based on client briefs.
  6. Review tenders, prepare reports, and make recommendations.
  7. Manage site works from start to finish.
  8. Monitor site activities against specifications and finalize contractor accounts.
  9. Inspect existing installations and prepare condition reports.
  10. Write technical reports, design presentations, and prepare tender drawings and specifications.
  11. Develop energy strategies incorporating sustainable, low-carbon systems.
  12. Utilize thermal modelling software and CAD tools like AutoCAD and Revit.
  13. Select appropriate plant and equipment for mechanical plantrooms.
  14. Analyze pipework and ductwork systems, coordinating with other disciplines.
  15. Conduct site visits, surveys, and witness system commissioning.
  16. Prepare and check fee invoicing monthly.
  17. Achieve annual and monthly fee targets as directed.

Essential skills, experience, and attributes:

  • Degree or Master's in Engineering.
  • Membership in CIBSE, The Energy Institute, or equivalent is preferable.
  • Chartered Engineer status or nearing completion.
  • Full driving license and access to a vehicle.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Experience with IES design software.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, codes, and best practices.
