Job summary

ibse is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer in the UK to take ownership of mechanical building services design projects from concept to completion, collaborating closely with clients, architects and fellow engineers.

You will lead multiple sector projects, mentor junior engineers and contribute to delivering low-carbon building solutions with a focus on technical excellence and client relationships.

Qualifications

• Degree, HNC or HND in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering.
• Around 4+ years’ experience within a Building Services consultancy.
• Experience designing mechanical systems across building sectors.
• Knowledge of UK Building Regulations and British Standards.
• Experience using Revit and related mechanical design packages.
• Understanding of sustainable building design and low-carbon solutions.
• Excellent communication and collaborative approach.
• Working towards Chartered Engineer status through CIBSE or IMechE.

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design of building services projects.
• Manage project delivery from feasibility through construction.
• Act as Project Lead on selected commissions.
• Produce and review mechanical calculations, specifications and technical reports.
• Attend design meetings and present directly to clients.

Role

Requirements

We’re looking for an ambitious Mechanical Building Services Engineer who enjoys technical design, client interaction and taking ownership of projects.

Ideally you’ll have:

• Degree, HNC or HND in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering.
• Around 4+ years’ experience within a Building Services consultancy.
• Experience designing mechanical systems across a range of building sectors.
• Working knowledge of UK Building Regulations and relevant British Standards.
• Experience using industry-standard design software including Revit and associated mechanical design packages.
• An understanding of sustainable building design, renewable technologies and low-carbon solutions.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach.
• Working towards, or already holding, Chartered Engineer status through CIBSE or IMechE.
