Overview

NRL are recruiting a Senior Mechanical Project Engineer for a large, £100M construction project in the North East. Responsible for the effective Mechanical Project Engineering service of a project or projects to ensure that projects are fully compliant to specifications, in line with planned costs and programme. You will work within the project team to ensure that any re-engineering/variations are managed in accordance change management processes. As part of a successful team, you will be an Competent Mechanical Engineer responsible for delegated works packages and you will work collaboratively to ensure they are successfully delivered.

Key tasks


  • Ensure all works are procured, planned and carried out safely in accordance with company standards, project requirements and UK law

  • Review designs with the design teams and client to ensure they are optimised for efficient and safe construction, fully compliant with standards and contract requirements

  • Manage robust change control and manage risk and opportunity

  • Implement and manage quality control procedures in line with company Standards

  • As required, provide accurate and timely information to the project management team for both site progress and financial reporting

  • Manage the successful completion of the project/area under control in line with agreed quality and commercial plans to achieve targets within agreed timescales and cost constraints. Ensure the design and installation meets internal and client specifications and statutory requirements as a minimum.

  • Work collaboratively in the “one team” delivery model

  • Provide leadership for the project team members within your area of control, setting clear expectations, offering guidance and feedback to maximise the performance of the team and ensure objectives are met, managing performance accordingly.

  • Contribute to the identification of project risks and opportunities, supporting project team members, providing suggestions, taking responsibility for the mitigation or enhancement of those within your area of control.

  • Understands relevant budgets, commercial priorities and their implications, in relation to job role. Ability to make sound decisions, based on clear criteria and facts. Manages own workload in line with project goals and priorities.

  • Keep accurate records

  • Ensure necessary appointments are made by the authorising Engineer for all the Mechanical works.

  • Collaborative: Communicates regularly, clearly, and honestly with others, cascading key messages to the team. Invites those they work with to share their views and ideas openly. Ensures those they work with understand and feel motivated by company long term aims and keeps them up to date on progress made against these. Ensures team members know their roles and how they contribute to company success. Creates opportunities for their team to share knowledge inside and outside the team. Celebrates and recognises the successes of their team and encourages them to learn from their mistakes.
