Job summary

Millbank Holdings Ltd is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to own complex projects from concept to completion within regulated process industries. You will lead multidisciplinary teams, develop and approve mechanical designs, and ensure quality and compliance across all project stages.

The role requires chartered status or active progression, with a track record in chemical processing, hydrogen, carbon capture or biotech sectors and strong leadership, communication and stakeholder

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Chartered Engineer status or actively working towards registration.
• Experience delivering projects in regulated industries (chemical processing, hydrogen, carbon capture, biotech).
• Demonstrated leadership mentoring teams of engineers and designers.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership on mechanical projects and ensure delivery to client requirements.
• Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams with other disciplines.
• Develop, review and approve mechanical designs, calculations and technical documentation to high quality standards.
• Support project management activities including change management, procurement support, scope development, and controls.
• Drive engineering best practice, continuous improvement, and compliance with legislation and standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership on mechanical engineering projects, ensuring successful delivery against project requirements and client expectations.
• Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams, working closely with specialist engineering disciplines to achieve project objectives.
• Develop, review and approve mechanical engineering designs, calculations and technical documentation while maintaining high quality standards.
• Support project management activities including change management, procurement support, scope development, resource planning and project controls.
• Drive engineering best practice, continuous improvement initiatives, technical innovation and compliance with relevant legislation and industry standards.

Qualifications and experience

• Degree‑qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Chartered Engineer status, or actively working towards professional registration with a recognised engineering institution.
• Proven experience delivering engineering projects within chemical processing, hydrogen, carbon capture, biotechnology or similar regulated industries.
• Demonstrable leadership experience managing and mentoring teams of engineers and designers.
• Strong problem‑solving, communication and stakeholder management skills, supported by a high level of technical competence and commercial awareness.
