As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of our innovation, developing standards and creative engineering solutions across the site. Working with all levels of the business, you will identify innovative solutions required to meet strategic business and sustainability goals, managing projects from concept to delivery, further enhancing the Hazelwood vision as a center of excellence.

As a senior figure within the Facility Management Services team, you will support a talented multidisciplinary team supporting the site. You will develop and mentor individuals, fostering an environment where they can excel, and identify development opportunities that add value to both individual and team delivery.

Your responsibilities:

Leading high-priority fire safety projects to maintain Hazelwood’s emergency response capability.

Developing the site's future CapEx portfolio roadmap, identifying investment projects supporting operational and strategic objectives.

Collaborating with diverse teams to deliver sustainable solutions that improve mobility, wellbeing, and modern life.

Supporting safety management by overseeing contractor activities and maintaining safety-critical assets, ensuring compliance across the site.

Developing standards, procedures, and documentation, supporting knowledge sharing, mentoring team members, and maintaining accurate site information.

Acting as a design authority and Subject Matter Expert, influencing and shaping mechanical infrastructure, reviewing and approving changes within the Management of Change process.

What We're Looking For:

  • Ensure asset maintenance and compliance obligations are satisfied across the site.
  • Develop and maintain strategic plans considering future business needs and sustainability commitments.
  • Mentor and support team development, fostering growth and excellence.
  • Collaborate with managers and project sponsors from initiation to delivery and handover.
  • Build relationships with external providers, sponsors, and management to support project success.
  • Manage project aspects aligned with the site’s strategic plan.
  • Develop and monitor work plans, adjusting to ensure success.
  • Understand financial aspects, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
  • Implement changes to improve operational reliability and performance.
  • Manage End of Life strategies for key assets to ensure business continuity.
  • Ensure all duties meet health and safety standards and legislation.

Skills That Make a Difference:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a senior engineering role.
  • Extensive knowledge of health and safety legislation related to mechanical systems, building regulations, and CDM.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, capable of delivering presentations and building business cases.
  • Experience with financial processes, budgeting, and project reporting.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • SAP experience.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects through their lifecycle, focusing on cost, time, and quality.
