Job title: Senior Mechanical Engineer

Location: Broad Oak – We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role

Salary: Up to GBP55,210 commensurate with skills and experience. Part time & accruing hours available. Please let us know if you would like to discuss these options.

What you'll be doing:

• Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of engineering theories, concepts, practices, principles, and approaches. Apply theoretical engineering knowledge, experience, and skills to develop products & services, specifications, and resolve technical & performance issues.
• Apply and adhere to company policies and procedures.
• Support Mechanical Systems and equipment within the scope of the Submarine Support Motion Control Contract.
• Develop solutions to Mechanical design problems or situations.
• Work as part of a wider project team under limited technical supervision.
• Understand and apply a range of design processes, tools, systems, and techniques.
• Communicate with internal and external stakeholders and with other functions.
• Perform self-verification of tasks to ensure quality and completeness.
• Support manufacturing, assembly, test, and operational technical queries.
• Apply knowledge of Engineering Governance and assurance processes.
• Support and lead continuous improvement activities.
• Review, amend, and draft technical documentation.

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

• Engineering degree or working towards CEng level (or equivalent).
• Demonstrable experience in mechanical engineering.
• Ability to make judgments based on experience.
• Ability to assess solutions and evaluate alternatives.

Desirable:

• Thermal Systems
• Fluid Power Systems (e.g., Hydraulics)
• Computational Fluid Dynamics
• Manufacturing
