Job description

Are you passionate about engineering in a dynamic environment? Do you want to make a real impact at one of the UK's most iconic locations? We are currently looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our busy team in Dover.


As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining the Port's critical mechanical assets, including hydraulic systems, cranes, and more. You will act as an internal consultant, carrying out mechanical designs and assessments for both new and existing assets while developing long-term strategies for maintenance and replacement. Your expertise will help monitor compliance with legislative standards, auditing inspections, and managing the mechanical inspection regime. You will also provide guidance and support to the engineering team, ensuring that our technical assets are safe and effective, and you'll promote sustainable and innovative approaches to enhance reliability.


Hours of Work:

Standard working hours apply, with flexibility required to meet operational demands.


Senior Mechanical Engineer Requirements
  • BEng/MEng (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a similar discipline.
  • Chartered or incorporated membership with the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) or actively working towards this.
  • Extensive post-graduation experience in mechanical designs, calculations, and feasibility studies.
  • Strong communication skills, able to convey information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Understanding of CDM regulations and hold a valid UK driving licence.
