Amentum is currently recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Energy business.
The department is entering an exciting phase of opportunity by supporting our key client’s UK nuclear fleet through a business transformation, and by supporting new small modular reactor developers. Our work is varied, covering New Build, Generation, Life Extension, and Defueling, and our capabilities are in demand across the nuclear sector.
The successful candidate must be highly motivated and proactive, looking to develop their technical capabilities.
Key to the role will be your people skills, building effective relationships and interacting with multiple internal and external stakeholders in multiple locations.
This post is for those with experience working within civil, nuclear, or other highly regulated industries. Candidates should be familiar with working in a regulated environment, providing engineering support, and delivering work to high HSSE standards in compliance with HSSE regulations.
The role offers a variety of work and opportunities to review design and design substantiation, produce calculations, advise on technical issues, and support refurbishment/modification projects to extend the life of plant & equipment.
Your role will be to deliver complex engineering solutions on projects of varying sizes, meeting time, cost, and quality objectives.
This position is based at one of our Energy offices (Newcastle, Warrington, Gloucester, Bristol, or Knutsford). We promote flexible working patterns.
Qualifications include a degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience through apprenticeship), Chartered or working towards Chartership with IMechE or similar.
Experience with design and/or design substantiation, knowledge of standards related to pressure vessels, pipework (ASME code), and system analysis is required. Knowledge of civil nuclear plant systems and design guidelines is advantageous. The candidate should be self-motivated, collaborative, innovative, and capable of solving complex problems.
