Job summary

Assystem Energy & Infrastructure in Derby seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to strengthen the nuclear-focused site team. You will develop mechanical designs, assess performance and safety, and ensure alignment with customer requirements.

Role involves risk management, technical documentation, and substantiation. A background in nuclear safety cases, PLM systems, and engineering analysis tools is highly valued.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years' experience within the nuclear sector.
• Understanding of mechanical design, safety case, operation, precision and cleanliness requirements and LfE capture
• Experience with Technical Document Authoring, Substantiation and Presenting
• Understanding of Nuclear Health & Safety requirements and safety case requirements
• Exposure to Chemical Plant, Gloveboxes, Welding, and NDT techniques is advantageous
• Familiarity with PLM systems (Teamcentre or similar)
• Knowledge of engineering analysis tools (MathCAD, ANSYS, ABAQUS)
• BEng or similar professional qualification in an engineering related field

Qualifications Skills, Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum of 5 years' experience within the nuclear sector
• Understanding of mechanical design, safety case, operation, (precision, cleanliness requirements, damage prevention) and LfE capture
• Previous experience with Technical Document Authoring, Substantiation and Presenting
• Understanding of Nuclear Health & Safety I.e Understanding of safety case requirements (Safety Functional Requirements, Engineering Schedules and criticality prevention)
• Previous exposure to Chemical Plant, Glovebox's and associated processes would be an advantage along with an understanding of Welding, NDT techniques
• Familiarity with PLM systems (Teamcentre or similar)
• Knowledge of engineering analysis tools (MathCAD, ANSYS, ABAQUS or similar)
• BEng or similar professional qualification in an engineering related field
