Join our client’s dynamic team as a Senior Mechanical Engineer where you’ll play a pivotal role in developing cutting-edge wheel and brake equipment that meets rigorous customer, government, and internal standards. Key Responsibilities – Senior Mechanical Engineer
- Design and validate new wheel and brake equipment through performance calculations and simulations to ensure compliance with design requirements.
- Lead or support wheel and brake projects, managing all phases from requirements definition to certification testing and initial service entry.
- Create, review, and approve technical requirement documents aligned with government, company, and customer standards.
- Ensure program targets are met, including technical performance, cost, and schedule, while coordinating with other engineering functions.
- Track key metrics such as non-recurring costs, design-to-cost, reliability, and weight throughout the development process.
- Collaborate with stress, thermal, vibration, and reliability engineers to ensure designs meet required margins.
- Work with Supply Chain and Operations to optimize designs for manufacturability while meeting cost targets.
- Support Test Engineers in developing qualification test plans and verifying compliance with requirements.
- Maintain parts lists, review drawings for compliance with standards, and ensure timely release.
- Coordinate internal and external design reviews with Product Line Experts, Subject Matter Experts, and customers.
- Lead or support Root Cause & Corrective Action efforts for qualification, design, and manufacturing challenges.
- Drive Continuous Improvement initiatives within the Wheel & Brake Centre of Excellence.
- Approve engineering drawings for components, sub-assemblies, and interface controls.
Key Experience – Senior Mechanical Engineer
- Degree Educated in an Engineering discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering.
- Expertise in Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Geometrical Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T), and knowledge of manufacturing processes.
- Strong project management skills with experience in cost and schedule tracking.
- Proficiency in Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and Risk Analysis.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of delivering presentations to customers and leading daily discussions with engineers, designers, and technicians.
- Aerospace experience preferred; wheel and brake experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of aircraft systems is desirable.
- Continuous Improvement training is a bonus.
