The Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with a proven ability to apply engineering principles to new and existing products within the IAS portfolio. Working within a large Mechanical Design team, you will collaborate with local teams and stakeholders to produce detailed mechanical designs supporting Weapon System, Missile, and Platform products to meet customer requirements. As we grow significantly, we seek engineers with a strong track record and the ability to implement excellent mechanical design principles to ensure project success and robust design output.

General Responsibilities

• Leverage engineering fundamentals for sound decision–making on complex issues
• Challenge and drive team and organizational performance to improve design quality
• Develop detailed Mechanical Designs using CAE applications
• Maintain product documentation per department processes
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure robust design solutions
• Handle engineering change tasks, ensuring BOM and process integrity
• Create engineering drawings in line with BS 8888 standards
• Lead and participate in Design Reviews
• Undertake and lead Mechanical Work Packages

Essential Criteria

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• 6+ years in a Mechanical Design role
• Proficient in CAD software such as Creo and/or Catia
• Experience in producing engineering drawings, GD&T, and BS 8888 standards
• Experience with PLM software like Windchill
• Knowledge of Design for Manufacture principles
• Experience in BOM creation and engineering change management
• Familiarity with international standards in product design
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Experience working in project teams to meet milestones
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Knowledge of environmental testing methods
• Problem–solving and decision–making skills

Desirable Criteria

• Experience with Six Sigma, APQP/DFMEA, DFMAT assessments
• Leadership experience in project delivery and team management
• Familiarity with CAM software, simulation tools (Ansys, Creo Simulate, SolidWorks), and CAE tools
• Experience working with suppliers and customers
• Knowledge of Defence Standards

• Significant hardware development experience, especially in mechanical engineering
