Job description

Senior Mechanical Design / Project Engineer

Bossong Engineering Pty Ltd is an advanced manufacturing and service company based in a modern facility in Welshpool, 10 minutes from the Perth CBD. We provide Engineering, Fabrication, Welding, Fitting and Machining solutions to customers in the Petroleum and Mining industries.

We are currently experiencing unprecedented growth for our wide range of services and seek a high calibre Senior Engineer. This position plays a key role in our business and is respected as a senior member of our team.

Our Engineering team provides services to both external customers and internal manufacturing and maintenance teams:

  1. Engineering and manufacturing project management including customer liaison (managing customer expectations) and co-ordination and supervision of manufacturing processes.
  2. Design including 3D Modelling (Autodesk Inventor) and FEA (Autodesk Simulation).
  3. Practical design for manufacture including fixture and tool design.
  4. Optimised material selection and specification including metals, polymers, structural sections, fasteners, bearings and drive mechanisms.
  5. Selection of fits, surface finishes, geometric and dimensional tolerances for various manufacturing processes.
  6. Production of detailed, accurate and practical manufacturing and maintenance drawings and specifications.
  7. Development, implementation and maintenance of engineering related Quality and OHS policies, procedures and associated documentation.
  8. Mechatronics including design and commissioning of robotic and other automation systems.
  9. Failure analysis and rectification.

All activities are performed under the API Q1 quality management system.

Your role:

Initially you will deliver solutions to our customers in the following areas:

  1. Determine client technical, quality and delivery requirements.
  2. Project management.
  3. Production of detailed, accurate and practical manufacturing and maintenance drawings and specifications.
  4. Optimised material selection and specification including metals, polymers, structural sections, fasteners, bearings and drive mechanisms.
  5. Selection of fits, surface finishes, geometric and dimensional tolerances for various manufacturing processes.

Education and Experience:

MUST be located in Australia with permanent work rights. If you are located overseas please do not apply.

Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or similar.

Minimum 5 years experience within Mechanical design, such as mechanical or structural design, metallurgy, materials science or mechatronics.

Minimum 3 years experience with Autodesk Inventor or Solidworks.

Solid experience in manufacturing or workshop environment.

Strong computer and Microsoft office skills.

Professional communication skills.

Good customer relationship / opportunity development skills.

Ability to multi-task and manage and procure for your own projects.

Beneficial:

Experience with Autodesk vault and AutoCAD.

Experience in reverse engineering using 3D Laser Scanners.
