Job summary

The People Pod is partnering with a major engineering consultancy to recruit a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (Tooling) with strong Siemens NX skills for on-site work in Derby. You will design tooling solutions and manage data in a PLM environment as part of a broader, long-term programme.

You will lead 3D/2D tooling design, supervise full lifecycle projects from concept to release, and ensure compliance with safety and UKCA requirements while collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Proven tooling/jigs/fixtures/lifting equipment design experience.
• Strong Siemens NX (3D + 2D) proficiency.
• Experience with Teamcenter or similar PLM.
• Solid DfM understanding.
• Confident with GD&T.

Responsibilities

• 3D modelling and 2D detailing in Siemens NX
• Managing design data via Teamcenter (PLM)
• Full lifecycle tooling design: requirements → concept → DfM → release
• Producing assemblies, sub‑assemblies, BOMs and detailed drawings
• Applying GD&T to ASME Y14.5 / BS standards
• Supporting gated design reviews and client presentations
• Ensuring compliance with safety legislation and UKCA requirements

Key Responsibilities

What You’ll Bring

Essential:

Desirable:

• Experience in nuclear, aerospace, defence, heavy engineering, oil & gas
• FEA exposure (Abaqus, ANSYS, MathCAD or hand calcs)
• Manufacturing or toolmaker background
