Job summary

Pertemps South Wales is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer in Clevedon, Somerset, offering a £52,000 salary with up to 7.5% bonus. The role is permanent and full-time, with a strong emphasis on reliability, safety and performance improvements across manufacturing and suppliers.

You will work within an established engineering team to investigate faults, develop improvements and ensure compliance with standards, while coordinating changes and cost reductions.

Qualifications

• A degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Experience in mechanical engineering and design.
• Experience in a regulated engineering environment.
• Strong 2D and 3D CAD skills.
• Knowledge of product development and design-for-manufacture.
• Experience investigating faults and implementing solutions.
• Good problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Investigate mechanical faults and identify root causes.
• Develop and validate design improvements.
• Manage engineering changes, drawings and specifications.
• Find replacement components and manage supplier changes.
• Improve product reliability, quality and cost.
• Ensure designs meet safety and compliance standards.
• Work with other teams to resolve technical issues.
