Job summary

Reed in Salisbury is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead design activities from concept to manufacture of electromechanical products.

You will drive NPD and product improvements, produce 3D CAD models, drawings, and documentation, and work with manufacturing to improve performance, reliability and manufacturability.

You'll mentor junior engineers and collaborate with electrical and other functions to deliver integrated solutions.

Qualifications

• Senior mechanical design engineer with end-to-end product delivery.
• Experience delivering products from concept to production.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and Design for Manufacture (DFM).
• Experience with electromechanical products and integration.
• Mentoring or supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design activities from concept through to manufacture.
• Drive New Product Development (NPD) and continuous product improvement projects.
• Produce and review 3D CAD models, engineering drawings and documentation.
• Work closely with manufacturing teams to improve product performance, reliability and manufacturability.
• Support validation, testing, DFMEA and root cause investigations.
• Liaise with suppliers regarding technical specifications, quality and design improvements.
• Provide mentoring and technical support to junior members of the engineering team.
• Collaborate with electrical and multidisciplinary engineering functions to deliver integrated product solutions.

You’ll play a key role in the development, improvement and manufacture of electromechanical products, working closely with production, suppliers and cross–functional teams to deliver robust, commercially viable engineering solutions.

The Role

The Person

• Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, Mechanical Engineer or similar.
• Experience delivering products from concept through to production.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and Design for Manufacture (DFM).
• Experience working within product development or engineering design environments.
• Exposure to electromechanical products, electrical integration or automation systems.
• Previous mentoring, supervisory or line management experience.
• Comfortable working cross–functionally with manufacturing, quality and supplier teams.
• CAD experience such as SolidWorks, Creo, Inventor or similar.

• Salary up to GBP65,000 DOE
