We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team on a remote basis, focusing on HVAC design for rail infrastructure projects, particularly station environments. The role will involve producing detailed mechanical designs, technical documentation, and calculations in accordance with industry standards and client specifications.
Lead the mechanical (HVAC) design for railway station projects, ensuring compliance with relevant standards (e.g., LU, NR, CIBSE).
Develop detailed mechanical design drawings and specifications (including ductwork, pipework, ventilation systems, and plant equipment).
Perform heat loss/gain calculations, airflow analysis, and equipment selection.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary design teams, including electrical and structural engineers.
Liaise with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met.
Ensure all designs align with applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Produce design risk assessments, technical reports, and design review documentation.
Attend virtual project meetings and contribute to design coordination remotely.
Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services.
Proven experience in HVAC design within the railway sector (particularly stations).
Proficiency in relevant design tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, Hevacomp, IES, or similar.
Sound knowledge of Network Rail standards.
Ability to work independently in a remote environment with minimal supervision.
Strong communication and report–writing skills.
