Job description

2025 sees MoneyGram Haas F1 Team celebrate its tenth season in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship — we're just getting started. We don't follow the status quo; we're here to challenge the competition, and we want you to join us.

The first American Formula 1 team to compete since 1986, MoneyGram Haas F1 Team made an immediate impression with a memorable points-scoring debut at the 2016 Australian Grand Prix. Nine years later, the team continues to demonstrate growth and a clear direction with its future objectives — coming off the back of its second-best season to date in Formula 1.

We're a racing team — not a corporate machine. We have three headquarters — Kannapolis in the US, Banbury in the UK, and Maranello in Italy — each powered by passionate, loyal, and hardworking team ambassadors. At MoneyGram Haas F1 Team — known within the paddock as 'the family team' — you'll be involved in many different areas of the team, have broader visibility across the business, and clearly see your contribution to our success.

Yes, you'll learn from us, but we also expect to learn from you!

General Summary:

This position reports to the Design Team Leader or their designee; it is based in Maranello, Italy. The role involves designing F1 chassis-related components and mechanical assemblies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Promote teamwork and effective communication to develop working relationships across all personnel and departments.
  • Design F1 chassis-related components and mechanical assemblies.
  • Conduct studies and design components using solid modelling, surface modelling, and 2D drawing to achieve high-performance, reliable, and optimized solutions.
  • Components include suspensions, wheels, hydraulic, fuel, and cooling systems, as well as equipment for car homologation and track-side management (e.g., legality checks, pit stop equipment).
  • Manage design mock-up activities in the design office.
  • Follow all safety regulations at all venues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Design Team Leader or their designee.

Education and Work Experience:

High School diploma or equivalent required; further education including a Mechanical Engineering degree preferred. Minimum of 6 years of work experience, with at least 3 years in a professional motorsports environment or F1 companies.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent understanding of English.
  • Robust technical background in racing cars.
  • Ability to work to high standards under stressful, time-sensitive conditions.
  • Quick decision-making skills, approaching problems scientifically and analytically.
  • Ability to work well within a team environment at all levels.
  • Empathetic approach to colleagues and ability to integrate within a group.
  • Positive, can-do attitude and willingness to assist others.

Equipment and Applications:
  • Proficiency with CATIA preferred; experience with Microsoft Office and ERP systems advantageous.
  • Mechanical aptitude with knowledge of composites beneficial.
  • Ability to follow complex regulations related to material shipment and facility maintenance.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

Must be able to prioritize tasks in a high-pressure, time-sensitive environment, with occasional domestic and international travel. Willingness to work long, flexible hours, including weekends.

This role may require lifting up to 50 pounds, repetitive bending, squatting, manual dexterity, and working around machinery, race cars, rigs, debris, and hazardous fluids. Compliance with health and safety policies is mandatory.

This job description may not cover all duties and responsibilities that may be reasonably required by the manager.

At MoneyGram Haas F1 Team, we value diversity and strive for an inclusive environment. We offer competitive rewards, bonuses, and health programs to support our team members. If you're passionate about racing, technology, and teamwork, consider joining us to turn your passion into your profession.
