Job description

2025 sees MoneyGram Haas F1 Team celebrate its tenth season in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship. We don't follow the status quo; we're here to challenge the competition, and we want you to join us.

The first American Formula 1 team to compete since 1986, MoneyGram Haas F1 Team made an immediate impression with a memorable points-scoring debut at the 2016 Australian Grand Prix. Nine years later, the team continues to demonstrate growth and a clear direction, coming off its second-best season to date in Formula 1.

We're a racing team — not a corporate machine. We have three headquarters: Kannapolis (US), Banbury (UK), and Maranello (Italy). Each location is powered by passionate, loyal, and hardworking team ambassadors. Within the paddock, we're known as the 'family team.' Joining us means being involved in various areas of the team, gaining broader visibility across the business, and seeing the direct impact of your contributions.

Yes, you'll learn from us, but we also expect to learn from you!

General Summary:

This position reports to the Design Team Leader or their designee and is located in Maranello, Italy. The role involves designing F1 chassis-related components and mechanical assemblies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Promote teamwork and effective communication across all personnel and departments.
  • Design F1 chassis components and mechanical assemblies.
  • Conduct studies and design components using solid modeling, surface modeling, and 2D drawings to achieve high-performance, reliable, and optimized solutions.
  • Design components including suspensions, wheels, hydraulic, fuel, and cooling systems, as well as equipment for car homologation and track-side management (e.g., legality checks, pit stop equipment).
  • Manage the mock-up activity within the design office.
  • Follow all safety regulations at all venues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Design Team Leader or their designee.

Education and Work Experience:

High School diploma or equivalent required; further education including a Mechanical Engineering degree is preferred. Minimum of 6 years of work experience, with at least 3 years in a professional motorsports environment or F1 companies.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent understanding of English.
  • Robust technical background in racing cars.
  • Ability to work to high standards under stress and tight deadlines.
  • Quick decision-making skills with a scientific and analytical approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to work well within a team across all levels.
  • Empathetic approach and ability to integrate within a group.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to assist others.

Equipment and Applications:
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks (preferably CATIA), Microsoft Office, and ERP systems.
  • Mechanical aptitude with knowledge of composites.
  • Ability to follow complex regulations related to material shipment and facility maintenance.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

Must work effectively in a high-pressure, time-sensitive environment, prioritizing tasks methodically. The role may require occasional domestic and international travel, long hours, including weekends. Physical demands include lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, squatting, manual dexterity, and working around machinery, race cars, and hazardous fluids, in compliance with health and safety policies.

This job may involve other duties as reasonably assigned by the manager.

At MoneyGram Haas F1 Team, we value diversity, inclusion, and our employees' well-being. We offer competitive rewards, bonuses, and health programs. If you're passionate about racing, technology, and teamwork, consider joining us to turn your passion into a profession.
