Job summary

ATA Recruitment is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer in Leicestershire to lead projects from sales handover through design to site delivery.

You will inspect sites, order bought-out items, and produce manufacturing drawings in AutoCAD, with a path to 3D design using Fusion. Responsibilities include airflow calculations and maintaining strong client communication throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable experience in a mechanical design engineering role.
• Experience in the design of bespoke fabricated and sheet metal components.
• Confident building relationships with customers.
• Willingness to own a project from design through delivery.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and pressure.
• A supporting mechanical engineering qualification.

Responsibilities

• Lead design projects from sales handover to delivery.
• Conduct customer site inspections and measure requirements.
• Order bought-out items (control panels, ATEX valves, seals).
• Produce all manufacture drawings in AutoCAD; migrate to 3D design with Fusion.
• Design ducting, air valves, fans, impellers, and filter panels.
• Create layouts for equipment fit in client plants; plan view layouts.
• Perform airflow, pressure drop and sizing calculations; maintain client communication.
