Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (Data Centres) – Bicester

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Bicester office. You will manage multiple medium-sized projects, engage in client-facing roles, and be involved in the development, design, and coordination of engineering projects, including producing design packages for contractors on design and build contracts.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage medium-sized projects and engage with clients in the development, design, and coordination of mechanical engineering services, systems, equipment, and facilities.
  2. Develop and specify applications of controls, instruments, and operating systems for building engineering services.
  3. Survey, test, and report on existing electrical installations.
  4. Specify activities to ensure manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing meet specifications and customer requirements.
  5. Make daily decisions on project progress and liaise with clients, providing advice as needed.
  6. Represent the company at technical meetings with customers, professional teams, and contractors.
  7. Perform engineering calculations to ensure compliance with industry and legal standards.
  8. Ensure the technical content and accuracy of work by Trainees, Graduates, and Engineers.
  9. Validate and review designs and specifications.
Role Requirements

You should possess the following professional and technical skills:

  1. BEng, MSc, with sufficient experience.
  2. MCIBSE/MIEE or HNC/HND with relevant experience or equivalent.
  3. Working towards Chartered Engineer status.
  4. Proficiency in specification design and drawing for various building types.
  5. Knowledge of key Health and Safety issues and legislation.
  6. Competence in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.) and IT-based calculation software.
  7. Understanding of BS standards.
  8. Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
  9. Managerial skills.
  10. Experience in consulting or construction is preferred.
  11. Understanding of international business operations within a global consultancy.
  12. Act ethically, adhering to the Group's Ethics Charter and Guidelines.
