Job summary

Elastic Ltd in Nottingham is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead building services design across healthcare, education and commercial sectors. The role offers hybrid working and focuses on technical excellence, sustainability and low-carbon engineering.

You will own design across project stages, work with clients, and mentor junior engineers while advancing sustainable building services solutions and coordination with multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3-4 years' post-qualification mechanical building services design experience.
• Degree, HNC or HND in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or related.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC and building services systems.
• Experience delivering mechanical designs through multiple project stages.
• Experienced with Revit or relevant design software.
• Good knowledge of UK Building Regulations and standards.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Confident working directly with clients and stakeholders.
• Membership of CIBSE or Chartership progression advantageous.
• Knowledge of HTMs, BREEAM and low-carbon design beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical engineering design on selected projects.
• Produce and review mechanical calculations, specifications and drawings.
• Work across projects from concept through to completion.
• Attend project and design team meetings.
• Collaborate with clients and key stakeholders.
• Mentor and support junior engineers.
• Incorporate renewable and low-carbon technologies into designs.
• Coordinate with electrical and multidisciplinary teams.
• Maintain and improve technical standards within the team.
• Deliver projects to agreed timescales and technical standards.
