A leading manufacturer in Welshpool seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer for a permanent position. The role involves producing and updating designs, collaborating with the engineering team, and ensuring compliance with tight tolerances in a manufacturing setup. ROLE – Mechanical Design Engineer
LOCATION - Welshpool
TERM- Permanent
SALARY- £35,000 - £50,000 per annum, dependent on experience
My client is a manufacturer of specialist products for a variety of sectors, and they are looking to take on a Mechanical Design Engineer on a permanent basis in the Welshpool area.
The Mechanical Design Engineerwill ideally have the following attributes:
- Degree / HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar
- Previous experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with Sheet Metal/Metalwork/Fabrication is necessary for this role
- Be proficient using 3D CAD software such as Creo, Inventor, SolidWorks, etc.
- Good theoretical mechanical engineering knowledge of core principles and tight tolerances
- Have the ability to work well alone as well as part of a small multi-disciplinary team
- Have the ability to carry out mechanical calculations
- Any previous experience of working with process machinery or steel / metal materials would be desirable
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Proficient using MS Office
- Excellent organisational skills and time management skills
The Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve:
- Working within the current engineering team with other Design Engineers
- Producing 3D designs using SolidWorks and 2D designs with AutoCAD
- Liaising with manufacturing providers
- Being involved in final assembly of products
- Creating the required documentation for design as well as project reports / plans
- Updating 3D models and drawings
- Inputting parts into the MRP system creating BOMs
- Checking drawings for sign off
- Working in a small multi-disciplinary team on varied projects
