Senior Aerospace Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Ware, Hertfordshire

Salary: Circa £50,000 | Site-Based Role

An established engineering company specialising in high-precision aerospace systems is seeking a Senior Aerospace Mechanical Design Engineer to join its team. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge aerospace projects in a fast-paced and technically challenging environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and development of complex aerospace components and assemblies.
  • Utilise SolidWorks (or equivalent CAD software) for high-precision mechanical design.
  • Conduct Finite Element Analysis (FEA) on intricate assemblies.
  • Produce detailed technical reports, including structural substantiation reports.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and suppliers to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Present technical and regulatory information to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers within the department.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Strong knowledge of aerospace design, manufacturing, and regulatory processes.
  • Expertise in structural analysis and problem-solving.
  • Ability to work to deadlines with high levels of self-motivation.
  • Excellent organisation, time management, and communication skills.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Automotive Engineering (Bachelor’s/Master’s level) OR Chartered Engineer status (IMechE or equivalent).
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a relevant aerospace design role.
