Job summary

Rullion Ltd in the UK is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for a 6-month contract in Teddington. You will lead end-to-end mechanical design for precision instruments and measurement systems, translating requirements into robust, manufacturable solutions.

You will collaborate with scientists, engineers, project managers and suppliers to deliver high-quality designs that meet cost and programme requirements, applying DFMA and robust drawing practices.

Qualifications

• Proven mechanical design experience within precision engineering or similar environments.
• Strong 3D CAD skills and experience with SolidWorks.
• Familiarity with PLM systems and detailed drawings.
• Knowledge of ISO GPS, BS8888, materials and tolerancing.
• Experience applying DFMA principles in product development.
• Strong problem-solving and stakeholder communication abilities.

Senior Mechanical Design Engineer - Contract

Job Type: Contract - 6 Months

Start date: ASAP

Location: Teddington

Working Arrangements: Hybrid - minimum 2 days per week on site

Hours: 36 hours per week

Rate: £45-55/hr Outside IR35

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a leading scientific and engineering organisation in Teddington.

You will be responsible for the end-to-end mechanical design of precision instruments, test equipment and measurement systems, translating customer requirements into robust, manufacturable solutions.

Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will collaborate with scientists, engineers, project managers, manufacturing teams and suppliers to deliver high-quality designs to cost and programme requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop precision mechanical systems and equipment.


• Produce 3D CAD models and detailed engineering drawings.


• Interpret customer and technical requirements.


• Apply DFMA principles and sound engineering practices.


• Work with multidisciplinary engineering and manufacturing teams.

• Ensure designs meet quality, cost and delivery requirements.

Essential Skills

• Proven mechanical design experience within precision engineering, scientific instrumentation, aerospace, defence or a similar environment.


• Strong 3D CAD experience, ideally SolidWorks.


• Experience with PLM systems and detailed engineering drawings.


• Knowledge of ISO GPS, BS8888, materials, tolerancing and manufacturing processes.


• Experience applying DFMA principles.


• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.


• Experience working within multidisciplinary teams.


• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
