Job Summary:

To produce design concepts and designs for complex scanning solutions, including general assembly drawings, fabricated structures, sheet metalwork, machined components, and hydraulic systems.

Overview:

Our client is a leader in detection technology, providing cargo and vehicle inspection systems for ports, borders, military, high-threat facilities, and checkpoints. They focus on innovative design, high reliability, and operator satisfaction to help customers detect threats and contraband efficiently.

Responsibilities:

• Design engineering structures, including fabricated structures, sheet metalwork, and machined components.
• Create general arrangement and assembly drawings/instructions.
• Manage bills of materials supporting assemblies.
• Ensure mechanical designs support electrical and other system components.
• Participate in engineering design reviews, project meetings, and customer interactions.
• Sign off designs for manufacturing and manage engineering change requests and orders.

Qualifications:

• HNC or higher in mechanical engineering preferred; industrial experience considered.
• SolidWorks experience is essential, with a track record in fabrications, sheet metalwork, and machined components.

Candidate Experience:

• Experience in creating new design concepts for heavily fabricated products.
• Understanding of developing complex electro-mechanical assemblies.
• Ability to work independently and cross-functionally with good organization and time management skills.
• Ability to follow instructions and collaborate effectively.
• Experience in design for manufacture; production background is beneficial.
• Knowledge of other design software like Autodesk Inventor is a plus.
