Shape the Future of Engineering in a Mission-Critical Industry

Join a fast-growing, highly respected engineering business at the forefront of solving complex design challenges for the nuclear and highly regulated sectors. With a collaborative, quality-driven culture and a focus on innovation, this is an opportunity to be part of a team delivering real-world impact in safety-critical environments.

This isn't just another design role — it's a chance to take ownership of technically diverse projects, influence key decisions, and drive engineering excellence from concept through to completion.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  1. Lead the design and development of cutting-edge mechanical systems for complex, safety-critical projects.
  2. Create high-quality, manufacturable designs using SolidWorks and other advanced CAD tools.
  3. Produce engineering documentation including technical drawings, calculations, and reports aligned with international standards.
  4. Own small to medium-scale projects or lead packages on major multi-disciplinary programmes.
  5. Ensure technical outputs meet all functional, regulatory, and quality requirements.
  6. Work closely with internal teams to ensure designs align with project goals and client needs.
  7. Act as a key technical point of contact, sharing progress, insights, and guidance with the Engineering Manager and stakeholders.
  8. Provide hands-on support to production, testing, and quality teams during design verification and delivery.
  9. Mentor junior team members, sharing knowledge and encouraging a culture of continuous improvement.

Process Improvement & Quality

  1. Champion design best practices and lean engineering principles including 5S and waste reduction.
  2. Continuously seek ways to improve systems, tools, and workflows for better project outcomes.

What You Bring:

  1. A Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar (HNC/HND with strong experience also welcome)
  2. 4+ years of experience in mechanical design, ideally in the nuclear, defence, or other regulated sectors
  3. Proficiency in SolidWorks and 3D CAD
  4. Strong understanding of engineering standards, safety requirements, and documentation
  5. Detail-oriented with sharp analytical and problem-solving skills
  6. Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership capabilities

Why Join?

  1. Career Growth: Work in a business that supports professional development and progression to more senior technical or leadership roles.
  2. Impactful Work: Be part of projects that make a genuine difference in safety, innovation, and sustainability.
  3. Forward-Thinking Culture: Join a team where creativity, precision, and collaboration are truly valued.
