Job description

Our client is a growing technology business specialising in innovative manufacturing processes and modular industrial systems. They are expanding their engineering team to support the development of next–generation production equipment and containerised solutions.

The Role

Seeking an experienced Senior Design Engineer to join the technical team developing modular industrial systems. Reporting to the Engineering Director, you will have technical responsibility for designing production equipment and packaging systems into standard shipping containers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop technical drawings for containerised systems incorporating processing equipment, piping, valves, and instrumentation
  • Design bespoke components in CAD using various materials including stainless steel, glass, and ceramics
  • Create equipment specifications for suppliers and manage vendor relationships
  • Generate assembly drawings and bills of materials for reactor systems and associated plant equipment
  • Perform mechanical stress calculations and ensure compliance with relevant standards
  • Integrate supplier drawings into company design files
  • Generate work instructions for mechanical assembly of components

Essential Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical or Design Engineering, or 5+ years equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years experience in engineering design environment
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD 3D
  • Experience with innovative technology development in fast–paced environments
  • Strong problem–solving abilities and organised working methods
  • Detail–oriented approach with excellent technical documentation skills

Desirable Experience

  • Experience with confined space designs or containerised equipment
  • Knowledge of CE/UKCA certification processes
  • Experience with industrial gases or hazardous area (ATEX/Ex) environments
  • Knowledge of material handling systems for solid particles
