Job summary

Michael Page is seeking a Senior Mechanical Designer for a globally recognised engineering and manufacturing business near Sheffield. You will deliver bespoke mechanical designs for complex customer applications, working closely with Sales, Applications and Manufacturing to ensure feasibility and delivery.

Key requirements include a degree or equivalent, strong 3D CAD capabilities, excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work at pace on bespoke products.

Responsibilities

• Work with Sales, Application Engineering and Manufacturing to deliver designs.

• Support product development and produce associated bills of materials.
• Act as technical contact for customers and internal teams to solve challenges quickly.

Continued growth and investment has created an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Mechanical Designer to join their engineering team based near Sheffield.

Description

As a Senior Mechanical Designer, you will play a key role in delivering bespoke engineering solutions for complex and non-standard customer applications.

• Work closely with internal stakeholders across Sales, Application Engineering and Manufacturing
• Be responsible for reviewing customer requirements, developing innovative design concepts and producing detailed designs that meet technical and commercial requirements
• Modify existing designs and create new designs to provide solutions for unique applications
• Support product development activities and produce associated bills of materials
• You’ll also act as a technical point of contact for customers and internal teams, helping to solve engineering challenges in a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift quickly

Profile

Successful candidates will have a strong mechanical design background and will be capable of working at pace, even with bespoke designs.

You will be an experienced Design Engineer and possess

• HNC, HND or Degree in an Engineering discipline, or equivalent industry experience
• Previous experience within a mechanical design engineering environment
• Strong 3D CAD capabilities with the ability to produce accurate, high-quality designs
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage confidently with customers and colleagues
• Proven problem-solving skills with a proactive and analytical approach
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative engineering team
• Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to balance accuracy, quality and delivery timescales
• Experience in working at pace, even with bespoke products
