Job description

FINTEC recruit is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for our international marine manufacturing client based in the Glasgow region. This is a permanent role, salary negotiable by experience plus pension scheme, life assurance cover, etc. You will be experienced with product lifecycle management systems for generating engineering packages. Salary is up to circa £60,000 plus benefits. Experience with PLC systems is desirable.

Responsibilities:

• Provide engineering design solutions, working as a technical lead within the engineering team.
• Support client requests for upgrades and for new product design.
• Input into new systems and products for engineering design.
• Create bill of materials and source suitable components and materials when required.

Skills and Experience required for the Senior Mechanical Design Engineer role:

• Proven mechanical design skills, able to generate design calculations.
• Excellent knowledge of manufacturing techniques and knowledge of gas and fluid systems.
• Knowledge of pressure vessel design skills using PD5500, ASME VIII, EN 13445.
• Knowledge of design standards and of industry guidelines and relevant codes, standards, regulations, and procedures (Lloyds, DNV, ABS, DEFSTAN, MIL-STD).
• Knowledge of testing methods and of engineering analysis programs (ANSYS Workbench, MathCAD, Finglow).
• Experience in using Solidworks or similar software.
• Previous experience in a Mechanical Engineer or Product Engineer role.
• Experience with Product Lifecycle Management systems for generating and storing engineering packages.
• Mechanical engineering degree or equivalent industry experience.
