Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Peterborough

Term: Permanent

Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 per annum

An established engineering company in Peterborough is currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team. This is a great opportunity for an experienced engineer to take ownership of projects, lead design activities, and contribute to the development of innovative mechanical solutions.

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following:

1. Degree or HND/HNC in Mechanical Engineering or related field
2. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in mechanical design, ideally within machinery, special purpose equipment, or industrial systems
3. Proficient in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks
4. Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes
5. Experience producing technical drawings, BOMs, and documentation
6. Ability to lead projects and mentor junior team members
7. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

The role will involve:

1. Leading mechanical design projects from concept through to production
2. Producing detailed 3D models and engineering drawings
3. Collaborating with internal teams including production and electrical design
4. Managing BOMs and ensuring all design documentation is accurate and up to date
5. Attending design reviews and liaising with clients and suppliers
6. Ensuring designs comply with industry standards and regulations
