ROLE - Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

TERM - Permanent

My client designs and manufactures robotic products and solutions. They are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Berkshire on a permanent basis.

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

• At least 3 years’ experience in a similar Mechanical / Design Engineering position
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, etc.
• Degree / HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
• Previous experience in a manufacturing environment in a similar role
• Knowledge of various materials – sheet metal, injection-moulded plastics, etc.
• Strong theoretical knowledge of core mechanical engineering principles and tight tolerances
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work independently and within a small multi-disciplinary team

The role involves:

• Using SolidWorks for concept design and technical drawings
• Liaising with manufacturing providers
• Participating in the final assembly of products
• Creating design documentation and project reports/plans
• Updating 3D models and drawings
• Inputting parts into the MRP system and creating BOMs
• Checking drawings for approval
• Collaborating within a small multi-disciplinary team on various projects
