Role: Senior/Principal Mechanical Engineer

Location: High Wycombe (Hybrid)

Our client is a specialist in delivering advanced solutions for demanding environments, ranging from subsea sensor systems to high powered electric drives. They’re looking for a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to support new and existing programmes, contributing to projects at every stage from initial concepts to delivery.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a multidisciplinary environment and enjoys working on technically complex hardware across the full product lifecycle.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Develop early-stage mechanical concepts and carry out feasibility assessments
• Deliver detailed design work using 3D CAD (ideally Autodesk Inventor)
• Collaborate with electrical and systems engineers to develop integrated solutions
• Support proposal development and bid activities with technical input
• Contribute to best practice and continuous improvement in mechanical engineering

What We’re Looking For:

• Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
• Experience designing precision enclosures or components for rugged or industrial environments
• Strong understanding of manufacturing methods: welding, casting, machining, and metalwork
• Confident user of 3D CAD software (Inventor preferred)
• Knowledge of material selection and performance under thermal, shock, and EMC constraints
• Familiarity with full product lifecycle development and gated review processes
• Strong communicator, capable of explaining technical ideas clearly to peers and stakeholders
• Proactive, organised, and comfortable working to deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Curious mindset and eagerness to contribute to the evolution of engineering practices
