Job summary

Platform Recruitment is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing client in Suffolk. You will lead the design team, drive product enhancement, and manage engineering changes from concept to release.

You will produce 2D and 3D CAD models, apply GD&T, and collaborate across manufacturing, quality, purchasing and production to solve complex technical challenges in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline.
• Experience leading and mentoring engineers.
• Strong 2D and 3D CAD modelling experience.
• Understanding GD&T and engineering drawing standards.
• Experience with engineering change processes and technical documentation.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and product development.
• Experience with FEA, hydraulics, pneumatics, or control systems is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead product enhancement and customisation projects from concept through to release
• Provide day to day leadership of the design team
• Manage engineering changes, technical documentation, and drawing updates
• Produce 2D and 3D CAD models
• Support manufacturing, quality, purchasing, and production teams with technical queries
• Carry out prototype development, testing, and validation activities
• Participate in design reviews, FMEA activities, and engineering investigations

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing business supporting a global customer base. Working within a collaborative engineering team, you will play a key role in leading day to day activities, product improvement, customisation projects, and technical support activities across a varied product portfolio.

This position would suit a proactive engineer who enjoys a mix of leadership, design, problem solving, project coordination, and cross-functional collaboration within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
