Job description

ROLE: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

LOCATION: Hampshire

TERM: Permanent

SALARY: £40,000 - £55,000, dependent on experience

My client is a specialist manufacturer, working across various industries. They are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Hampshire on a permanent basis.

Qualifications:
  1. HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ / Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar
  2. At least 3-5 years' experience in a similar Design Engineering / CAD position
  3. Previous experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment
  4. Ideally experienced working with machinery, conveyors, mechatronics and other equipment with moving parts and systems
  5. Be proficient using 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, Inventor etc.
  6. Good theoretical mechanical engineering knowledge of core principles and tight tolerances
  7. Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  8. Excellent organisational skills and time management skills
  9. Have the ability to work independently as well as part of a small multi-disciplinary team
Responsibilities:
  1. Using SolidWorks on a daily basis for concept design and producing technical drawings
  2. Presenting your designs and justifying decisions for internal and customer reviews
  3. Liaising with manufacturing providers
  4. Being involved in final assembly of products
  5. Creating the required documentation for design as well as project reports / plans
  6. Updating 3D models and drawings
  7. Inputting parts into the MRP system creating BOMs
  8. Checking drawings for sign off
  9. Working independently and in a small multi-disciplinary team on varied projects
