Job summary

A leading company in engineering is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for a contract role lasting 6 to 12 months. The successful candidate will focus on designing fabrications and static components for turbomachinery applications. Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and experience with NX software, alongside strong mechanical design skills.

Qualifications

• Experience designing castings, machined parts and fabrications required.
• Proficiency in NX software is essential.
• Experience using BS8888 and/or ASME Y14.5.

Job description

Position: Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Castle Donnington – 3 Days On site

Contract: Outside IR35
Type: Full–Time

The Role
This is a contract role expected to last between 6 – 12 months with the successful candidate will be designing a range of fabrications and static components used in turbomachinery applications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create detailed 3D models and assemblies using Siemens NX.
• Generate engineering drawings
• Perform engineering design calculations eg Perform tolerance stack–up analysis , bolted joint.
• Preparation of engineering design reports
• Engage with suppliers and lead design for manufacturing activities
• Ensure designs meet industry standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements.

Required qualifications and experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
• Experience designing castings, machined parts and fabrications.
• Experience using BS8888 and/or ASME Y14.5
• Proficiency in NX software is essential.
• Strong skills in mechanical calculations.
• Experience designing turbomachinery static components, casings, piping and structures would be helpful but not essential.
• Experience using Teamcenter, or similar PLM systems.
• Good communication skills with the ability to work in a small team as a self–starter
