Job description

2025 sees MoneyGram Haas F1 Team celebrate its tenth season in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship — we're just getting started. We don't follow the status quo; we're here to challenge the competition, and we want you to join us.

The first American Formula 1 team to compete since 1986, MoneyGram Haas F1 Team made an immediate impression with a memorable points-scoring debut at the 2016 Australian Grand Prix. Nine years later, the team continues to demonstrate growth and a clear direction, coming off its second-best season to date in Formula 1.

We're a racing team — not a corporate machine. We have three HQs — Kannapolis in the US, Banbury in the UK, and Maranello in Italy — each powered by passionate, loyal, and hardworking team ambassadors. Known as the 'family team' within the paddock, you'll be involved in many different areas of the team, gain broader visibility across the business, and see your contributions clearly.

Yes, you'll learn from us, but we expect to learn from you too!

General Summary:

This position reports to the Design Team Leader or their designee; it is located in Maranello, Italy. Responsible for designing F1 chassis-related components and mechanical assemblies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Promote teamwork and effective communication to develop working relationships across all personnel and departments.
  • Design of F1 chassis components and mechanical assemblies.
  • Study and design components through solid modelling, surface modelling, and 2D drawing to achieve high-performance, reliable solutions, and optimized sizing.
  • Components include suspensions, wheels, hydraulic, fuel, and cooling systems, as well as equipment for car homologation and on-track management (e.g., legality checks, pit stop equipment).
  • Manage design mock-up activities in the design office.
  • Follow all safety regulations at all venues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Design Team Leader or designee.

Education and Work Experience:

GCSE, High School diploma, or equivalent required. Further education, including a Mechanical Engineering degree, preferred. Minimum of 6 years of work experience, with at least 3 in a professional motorsports environment or F1 companies.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent understanding of English.
  • Strong technical background in racing cars.
  • Ability to work to high standards under stressful, time-sensitive conditions.
  • Quick decision-making skills with analytical problem-solving.
  • Teamwork skills at all levels.
  • Sympathetic approach to colleagues and ability to integrate within a group.
  • Positive, can-do attitude and willingness to assist others.

Equipment and Applications:
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks (preferably CATIA), Microsoft Office, and ERP systems.
  • Mechanical aptitude with knowledge of composites.
  • Ability to follow complex regulations related to material shipment and facility maintenance.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

Ability to prioritize in a high-pressure, time-sensitive environment. Occasional domestic and international travel may be required. Flexibility to work long hours, including weekends. Physical demands include lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, squatting, manual dexterity, and working in environments with machinery, race cars, debris, and hazardous fluids. Compliance with health and safety policies is mandatory.

This job description may not cover all duties and responsibilities as required by the manager.
