Senior or Principal Mechanical Design Engineer – Burton upon Trent - £50,000 – 60,000

We are looking for a Senior/Principal Design Engineer to join our dynamic client based in Burton upon Trent! This would suit either a Senior, Lead or Principal Design Engineer looking for a new challenge!

The ideal candidate will have around 8 to 10+ years of design experience, previously designing components or products using a variety of manufacturing methods including CNC machined precision components, die cast/casting, and injection moulded plastic.

Key Responsibilities:

• The Principal/Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will take the design from customer concept to manufacture – working with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams.
• The Principal/Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will lead on various product lines, designing bespoke components and designs using various manufacturing methods in Solidworks.
• Must be able and willing to travel across the UK and globally 2-3 times a year to customers and suppliers where necessary.

Key Attributes:

• Ideally around 8 to 10 years of experience in a design role taking designs from customer ideas to manufacture.
• Experience using Solidworks or a similar 3D CAD package such as Inventor, Creo, Catia, Solid Edge, etc.
• Experience designing for manufacture with excellent communication skills to liaise with cross-functional teams and customers.
• Strong initiative with a team player attitude.
