Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, Brierley Hill

Our client is an award-winning consultancy delivering energy efficiency, carbon management, and cost reduction solutions to renowned brands. Due to a large project pipeline, they are recruiting a Mechanical Design Engineer for a full-time, permanent role based in Brierley Hill, Birmingham.

The successful candidate will work within the design team to deliver projects from feasibility to construction, mainly focusing on government-funded decarbonisation projects in the public sector.

Remuneration

• Salary: £50k - £60k (DOE)
• Working hours: 40 hours/week

Responsibilities

• Design, specify, and manage projects across all RIBA stages, including Mechanical Services aspects.
• Lead multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ensure designs comply with British Standards and legislation.
• Conduct Mechanical Services Feasibility Studies and Energy Efficiency Reports, including work on air source heat pumps, plant room refurbishments, and hot water systems.
• Perform mechanical design calculations for HVAC installations.
• Participate in project meetings and departmental planning sessions.
• Build strong team relationships and assist with QA procedures.

Requirements

• Degree-level qualification or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.
• Professional registration with CIBSE and/or IET preferred.
• Experience in mechanical engineering, consultancy, or installations.
• Proficiency with design software such as Design Builder, Heavcomp, TAS.
• Knowledge of industry regulations and mechanical design standards.
• Experience with utility services connections/disconnections.
• Ability to manage workload and communicate effectively with clients and teams.
