Senior Materials Scientist - Novel Characterisation

A pioneer of cutting-edge instrumentation in Cambridge is looking for an experienced materials scientist to join their research group.

As a Materials Scientist, you will be responsible for providing multi-instrumental characterisation data, along with high-quality analysis, interpretation, and reporting. Your focus will be on purity analysis and characterisation of materials using liquid chromatography techniques, including LC-MS and HPLC. The goal is to improve current characterisation methods and establish scientific structure-property correlations.

This role involves developing new test methodologies, characterising both novel and known small molecule and polymer systems, and evaluating new techniques to enhance existing characterisation methods from concept to implementation. Your work will have a significant impact.

Ideal candidates will possess the following attributes:

  • Proven expertise in characterisation of materials and impurity identification using liquid chromatographic techniques, including LC-MS and HPLC.
  • Experience in interpreting analytical chemistry results to draw clear conclusions and recommendations.
  • A strong academic background with a focus on materials.
  • An inquisitive mindset.

In return, the company offers a highly competitive package and excellent career progression opportunities within an innovative environment.
