Job summary

Airbus Belfast Limited is hiring a Senior Composite Material Engineer to join the Central Engineering Materials & Processes team. You will drive composite material activities in a production environment and support cross-functional projects for current and future aircraft programs.

You will collaborate with Design, Manufacturing Engineering, Procurement and Quality to select materials, resolve production issues, and push cost and quality improvements across the A220 wing program.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years’ Materials & Processes engineering experience in a production environment.
  • Knowledge of assembly or surface related materials and technologies for development and design.
  • Familiarity with materials qualifications, M&P processes, testing and failure analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Support composite material activities in a production environment.
  • Support production issues for composite technologies.
  • Contribute to product improvement for cost or quality of composite parts.
  • Collaborate with Plant Engineering and M&P community.

How you will contribute to the team


  • You will be responsible to support composite material activities in a production environment.

  • You will contribute to support production issues for composite technologies.

  • You will be supporting product improvement for cost or quality aspect of composite parts.

  • You will support activities with the relevant Plant Engineering and M&P community.

  • You will contribute to material selection and support to Design, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain and Quality for any material related queries, concession, etc.

  • You will build and maintain a powerful stakeholder network with internal interfaces such as Design, Procurement and Supply Chain Quality.

  • You will be part of future aircraft development programs as well as industrialization improvement projects.


About you

Essential


  • Educated to a degree level in Engineering or Science Degree or HNC level (engineering related) together with a minimum of 3 years’ relevant Materials & Processes engineering experience.

  • Knowledge of (but not limited to) assembly and/or and surface related materials and technologies with respect to development and design of solutions, materials qualifications, M&P processes, testing and failure analysis.


Desirable


  • Experience to support technically new material supplier qualifications and developments.

  • Ability to technically lead projects in an international and interdisciplinary environment across different levels of hierarchy.

  • Demonstrated networking skills and technical leadership in collaboration with external partners, with a problem solving approach.
