Job summary

Airbus Belfast Limited is seeking a Project Engineer for Materials and Processes to lead and drive industrialisation improvements in a fast-paced aerospace production environment. You will partner across Design, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to ensure world-class material selection and quality from initial concept to final assembly.

The role emphasizes cross-functional technical leadership in M&P, with involvement in future aircraft development programs and strategic industrialisation

Qualifications

  • Experience in Materials & Processes (M&P) engineering.
  • Knowledge of composite materials, metallic materials, and assembly processes (including composite repairs).
  • Experience supporting M&P qualifications and developments.

Responsibilities

  • Support M&P activities in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production challenges related to M&P technologies.
  • Drive continuous product improvements to optimize costs and elevate quality.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to streamline processes and align M&P goals.
  • Guide material selection and act as M&P SME advising Design, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain and Quality teams.
  • Build robust stakeholder relationships across Design, Procurement and Supply Chain Quality.
  • Play a pivotal role in future aircraft development programs and industrialisation projects.

Join Airbus Belfast as a Project Engineer for Materials and Processes and take on a strategic leadership role that directly shapes the future of aerospace. You will drive high-impact industrialisation improvements and play a pivotal part in exciting new aircraft development programs within a dynamic production environment. By partnering seamlessly across Design, Manufacturing, and the Supply Chain, you will champion material innovation and ensure world-class quality from initial selection to final assembly.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE TEAM
  • Support with Materials and Processes (M&P) activities within a fast-paced production environment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production challenges related to M&P technologies.
  • Drive continuous product improvements across parts and assemblies to optimize manufacturing costs and elevate quality.
  • Collaborate closely with Manufacturing Engineering to streamline processes and align M&P operational goals.
  • Guide material selection and act as the central M&P subject matter expert advising Design, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, and Quality teams.
  • Cultivate robust stakeholder relationships across key internal functions, including Design, Procurement, and Supply Chain Quality.
  • Play a pivotal role in future aircraft development programs and strategic industrialisation improvement projects.
ABOUT YOU

Essential

We are looking for an engineer with experience in M&P, and knowledge of (but not limited to) composite materials, metallic materials, assembly processes (including composite repairs) or chemical and environmental technologies.

  • A BSc/BEng degree with a minimum of 3 years' relevant M&P engineering experience. OR A relevant engineering qualification, such as HNC or HND and a minimum of 5 years' relevant M&P engineering experience
  • Experience to technically support M&P qualifications and developments.
  • Ability to technically support projects in an interdisciplinary environment across different levels of hierarchy.
  • Demonstrated networking skills and technical leadership in collaboration with internal or external partners, with a positive approach to problem solving.
Desirable
  • Demonstrated aerospace experience
  • Experience supporting production environment
