Job summary

Babcock Devonport Royal Dockyard site is seeking a Senior Metallurgy and Materials Engineer to lead testing, analysis and failure investigations, ensuring safety-critical components meet standards and performance criteria.

You will apply advanced materials knowledge in laboratory and operational environments, mentor colleagues, and contribute to defence programmes with opportunities for professional development.

Qualifications

• Experience in UKAS-accredited laboratory testing and reporting.
• Metallurgical engineering expertise including corrosion inspection and repair.
• Ability to author and review technical documentation and test methods.

Responsibilities

• Lead testing, metallurgical analysis and failure investigations.
• Provide material selection guidance and engineering best practices.
• Manage testing programs and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Support supplier audits, standards compliance and mentoring.
