Job summary

Barclay Simpson is seeking a Senior Market Risk Analyst to support physical energy trading. You will own product-level risk reporting, deliver daily position and P&L reporting, and work with Trading, Finance and Commercial teams to ensure transparent, accurate risk metrics.

The role emphasizes ownership, process improvement and development of others within a high-visibility risk function. A competitive salary and discretionary bonus are offered.

Qualifications

• Significant market risk experience in physical commodities trading.
• Strong understanding of trading, hedging and P&L reporting.
• Advanced Excel and data analysis capabilities.
• High accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to influence across Trading, Finance and Commercial teams.
• Experience mentoring or guiding junior colleagues.
• Continuous improvement mindset and control focus.

Responsibilities

• Produce daily position reports showing market risk exposures from trading and hedging.
• Generate daily mark-to-market P&L reports with clear, justified commentary.
• Validate market data and price markers used in P&L reporting.
• Ensure reporting methodologies are robust and meaningful.
• Identify gaps and develop improved tools and processes.
• Support reconciliation between middle-office P&L and monthly accounts with Finance.
• Lead system and reporting improvements and training for colleagues.
• Act as a reference point within the team and mentor juniors.
• Promote a strong control environment and challenge in trading activity.
• Support ad hoc risk projects and initiatives as required.
